The Story of Time

It has been two weeks since I came back to my home. Life is simple but meaningful here; at least every single moment is not wasted or spent meaninglessly. Time is fast, faster than anything that we know. Just in a blink of an eye that my trip is coming in few more days. All the best to myself, and my dearest partner – TKK.  I only hope that I will be able to gain something, some precious moments and experiences from Vietnam and Cambodia, if my effort is not to be shattered.

…

Few days ago, I visited an old friend, and I’m glad that she is recovering now. Yea, let bygone be bygone, tomorrow will be a better day. I’m looking forward to someday when you have completely in good health, and pursue your dream with your-used-to-have enthusiastic. Good luck, my friend.

…

You know? There is no miracle in this world; it is us that create the miracle and opportunity. If we are reluctant to admit and recognize our own problems, we will never solve them and improve ourselves. However, it is too bad that most of us don’t, or I should say never understand such simple concept. That’s why we can always see rubbish work and lousy people in this society, wasting the useful resources and precious efforts. What to do? They are just too ignorant to admit over their own mistakes.

…

Finally I found a good drama series that attracted me. The Story of Time or 光阴的故事 is indeed a momentous series that reflects the Taiwanese life during the age of 1960s and 1980s. Though the series does have flaws in certain facts, still it is a great a series in overall. Let me share its theme lyrics with my fellow old friends. If you are touched by it, and feel the same as me, tell me. Friends, I value you all.

…

…

…

它天天的流转;

有着旧日狂热的梦;

Oldies…

No matter how famous is the latest song; the oldies are always my favorite.

They bring back the old days that warm your mind and emotion, remind you of the laughing and crying moments.

And moreover, the lyrics are meaningful, unlike the so-called latest songs, filled up by junky words and melody.

I like both versions of this song, either the Eric-Clapton version or Fang-Da-Tong version.

They may sounds different, but at the end still they trigger the same emotion, bring back the same memories…

Wonderful Tonight

Its late in the evening
Shes wondering what clothes to wear
She puts on her make up
And brushes her long blonde hair
And then she asks me
Do I look alright
And I say yes, you look wonderful tonight

We go a party
And everyone turns to see
This beautiful lady
Thats walking around with me
And then she asks me
Do you feel alright
And I say yes, I feel wonderful tonight

I feel wonderful
Because I see the love light in your eyes
And the wonder of it all
Is that you just dont realize
How much I love you

Its time to go home now
And Ive got an aching head
So I give her the car keys
She helps me to bed
And then I tell her
As I turn out the light
I say my darling, you were wonderful tonight
Oh my darling, you were wonderful tonight…

October

Time flies extremely fast in short semester. 2 more weeks and i will have to face the final exam, which is good news to me. How i wish that i can finish the course now and have a good rest. At least, the calculus will no longer haunt me. Mr. Nathan said that calculus is everything, but i will say that calculus is nothing but dry and idiotic numbers. You don’t even apply 0.000001% of calculus concept in daily lives, unless you are to certain professions or fields. For normal people, it is nothing but a dry subject. Unlike philosophy that actually helps to develope your mind. But well, perhaps it is my prejudice for not liking calculus, which makes me to condemn it right now.

October, nothing much happen here, life is mundane as usual. Hopefully the coming November will be an enlightening one. I’m looking forward to the backpack trip.

THES Ranking 2009 is released, and the result is just as i have expected. Most of the schools in United States have slowly slipped down, and lost their power. I’m not surprise with it. After all, United States is losing its economic power now, and there are still many potential threats that waiting to knock off the nation once and forever. I wonder if this giant eagle will still fly with pride 10 years later. No one knows. We shall wait and see.

I’m busy, busy with calculus questions, with assignments, with university applications…

Am i really busy?

No i guess.

When you keep on saying that you are busy, you will never free. =)

God?

Does God really exist?

 …

If it does, then there will be no hardworking people come to grief;

The good and the innocent one will never have an unfortunate ending.

 …

At least, the angel never smiles at me, not even once…

One Week Break…

It was like yesterday when I last finished my Calculus 1 test on Friday, and now it is already the end of the short Hari Raya break. Well, I will say that this is a productive week, as i have done so many tasks in the one week time.

The trip to Colmar Tropicale is an unforgettable one. Though the town is no longer new after so many years, still i manage to enjoy a number of long lost experiences under the roof of the French castle. I can still recall the cute bunnies running around me, as if they are welcoming my presence in the rabbits’ world. Ohya, I’m not sure if the two giant swans are the old swans that i met 10 years ago. The trip may be short, but it is more than enough to escape the metropolitan hassle temporary.

Meeting up with old friends is always a joyful event, though I’m quite tired after the journey. Well friend, you look better now (at least you are slimmer =P), and i hope that you will like those medical books as if they are your fairy tales. A good conversation always widens our view and knowledge. Frankly all the while i have been thinking that Indonesia is a rough barren with barbaric race, but now i really have to correct my perception on it. They are just as good as us (perhaps even better, far better than us). The city of Yogyakarta is so developed that even Penang has no match on it. I’m glad that you don’t face many problems there, my friend. I guess your varsity experience in Indonesia will be a great one. =)

Finally we have made the first step for the coming Vietnam-Cambodia backpacking trip. Right now I only hope that everything will be done smoothly, physically, mentally and financially. The last time I met up with Kai Kin was during the 2008 HSC Alumni Night. Well, the only thing I can say is friend, you don’t really change much, still the old way of clothing, the same hairstyle, the same personality. Looking forward to a great journey with you. C’mon, give Vietnam a chance, we will never know until we go there. If it is really bad, let it be your last time in Vietnam, ok? =)

It is 8.40pm now. A few more hours later, it will be another academic struggle. All the best to me then, and also the university applications. (Ohya, I still have a long Philosophy assignment to be done…. ><)

Strengthen Harmony, Not So Easy Man!

The Prime Minister of Malaysia Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has called on the Muslims and people of Malaysia to strengthen up harmony and break down prejudice for the sake of future generation as a message for Hari Raya. This is of course, an old and obsolete advice. Every year this sentence has been used by the bureaucrats and leaders to address the whole society. 1Malaysia, it may sound attractive, but is it easy to achieve, possible to achieve?

My answer is ”Yes, it is possible to achieve, but it will not be an easy one.”

I believe that out of the whole world, Malaysia is the only country that have several major and minor races and yet, these races are not able to understand each other. First of all, language is the most powerful tool and weapon in controlling the social harmony. Without knowing a language, it is quite impossible for one to fully understand a certain ethnicity. No doubt we have a so-called national language; unnecessary misunderstandings can always be created when one race is using alien language that doesn’t “sound nice” to the other groups. Look at our society. I consider that 90% of the new generations are able to understand and speak Malays, however dose the Malays able to speak and understand Mandarin, and other Chinese-dialects? Does the Chinese able to speak Tamil and other Indian-dialects? As a citizen in West Malaysia, do we understand the culture and background of natives in Sarawak and Sabah? You may think that the multi-language society is uniqueness for the country, at the same time it can be a dreadful hand that tear off this country in a blink of an eye. I always post a challenge: The Chinese is able to speak Malays and Chinese, and the Indians can even speak Tamil, Malays and Chinese, can the Malays do so?

Not only that, Malaysia is considered as “the only one country that practicing racial-based policy”. Last time, Malaysia critiqued South Africa for practicing apathy; we condemned the country, the products, and cut off the diplomatic tie with South Africa. Today, South Africa has been liberalized, but what about us? The Prime Minister is aware of this and has decided to abolish certain policies to attract investors. This is a wise action if the country still has to advance in economy. We have rules and regulations that prevent us from questioning certain policies in the country, in order to protect certain groups? Yet, does it make sense? Or they just want to protect some politicians’ personal well beings? We have independent for so many years, and still certain ethnicity need so-called protections. Does it mean that they never improve themselves? China and India are the rising powers in the world. Imagine that when their investors come to Malaysia that practice racial-discriminated policies, will they put their money on this land?

We argue that Israel is bullying and killing innocent Muslims in Middle East, accusing them for practicing extreme Judaism and Christianity, but do we practice moderate religion too? Building a mosque in anywhere is always “correct and appropriate”, and no one will ever protest regarding this. But when a Hindu temple is destructed out of sudden, when a Hindu temple is constructed in so-called “Muslim-dominant” venue, vigorous objection is demonstrated, and even the pitiful cow has to lose the head for the protest. This is what you known as harmony? Drinking liquor is prohibited in Islam, but do we have to whip a woman just because of this? Are we certain that in this country, there is no other Muslims taking alcohol behind the door, and they do not deserve any whip? We claimed that we are a moderate country, are we?

“Let’s break down the walls of prejudice, hatred and apathy for the sake of our children’s future,” Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said. Indeed we have to break down the “Berlin Wall”, if we are to secure our personal and national future. The Chinese and Indians keep migrate out from this land, which treat them less human by taking away their rights; the highly-educated scholars too keep on seeking for better employment in other continents for their  future and living. After years of independent, are we  improving and advancing, in every aspect?

F1?

I’m pretty sure that eyebrows were raised when the Malaysians read about F1 news. Again, Malaysia is trying to show its “boleh-ness” by participating in F1 race via the Lotus F1 team next year (2010). I guess quite a number of our countrymen will applause and celebrate for this great news?

Rubbish! F1 is well known for its huge spending. The reported 2008 team budgets ranged from US$45mil to US$445mil (RM158mil to RM1.6bil) for sponsorship, supplier deals, prize money, team owner contributions, tire provision and supply of customer engines. Because of the extravagant expenses, even rich companies like BMW AG. ST. and Honda Motor Co. Ltd. have dropped out from the F1 Circle. What’s more a small country that barely has enough money to sustain its country spending? Perhaps with the aid of government and powerful companies sponsorships, the country is able to cover the yearly-fees. Is it worthwhile?

What is the point of participating in such race, simply to show off the pride and so-called ability of the country? Does the F1 participation really help to develop better Proton engines? To produce excellent F1 racer, or to upgrade the status of Malaysia in the eye of the world? What is the difference between the astronaut program and F1 race, since both of them help to burn tons of ringgit in unpredictable speed?

Instead of spending millions and millions of unnecessary ringgit, why don’t we invest the big sum in building up the human resource, upgrading education system (which is so sucks and terrible), improving infrastructure and public service, fighting poverty and illness?

This is how 1 Malaysia can be achieved?
